Before you make a withdrawal for K-12 tuition, consider the following:

Missouri taxpayers can use MOST 529 assets to pay for qualified K-12 tuition of up to $10,000 per year per student without state tax consequences. State tax treatment of K-12 withdrawals is determined by the state(s) where the taxpayer files state income tax. If you are not a Missouri taxpayer, please consult with a tax advisor.

Recent changes to the federal law allow rollovers from 529 plans to ABLE plans, up to the ABLE contribution limit without federal tax consequences. See the MOST Plan Program Description for more details.

Your withdrawal will come proportionately from your current investment options. If you want to direct your K-12 withdrawal to come from a specific investment option, you can modify the default amounts before finalizing your withdrawal (Refer to "How to make withdrawals).

Please note that if you have a check sent directly to the school, then the tax reporting for that withdrawal will be sent to the beneficiary (regardless of the beneficiary's age).
